The debut album from the southern gruff but melodic punk rock trio. Likened to Hot Water Music or Lawrence Arms, The Don Ramos Players play ballsy punk rock getting your toe tapping, your heart racing, and your fist in the air.

Destined To Be Worth The Blood

You can chisel a man down to many different configurations. You can chop that man up and leave him lingering in pieces, separated out into their distinctive elements - the cream where it belongs, the enamel to the center and the skin on the floor of the measuring device, heavier than thou. You can leave them all muscles or all brains, or all of whatever they've gone through their marked up lives to value the most. You can leave them with all features and poses or as a lump covered over with fancy clothing and jewelry, not to mention a multi-colored ink blotch - all that remains from the tattoos that covered their arms, legs and backs. You can carve a man down to the barest of cores, whittling away and off the fat and the excess, all of the material that's just for show, for the small advantages it might bring when he least expects it. This could leave a man shivering, exposed for all to witness, showing as either a chicken shit, a proud man of impeccable moral standards or someone in between, a wishy-washy bundle of water, guns, gums, teeth, beady eyes, body odor and snickers. Chuck Ragan, the former leader of Hot Water Music, is a man who can be proficiently boiled down to his elements and to a soul that will leave you with few remaining questions about him and that's not an indictment that he's easily solved. It's actually an indication of the exact opposite because there are foyers of subtext and thin pages of fine print built into that compact thing that he'd fight a bullet for, that SOUL of his, writ large in the most capital of letters. I read an interesting quote from author Jonathan Ames in the newest issue of Fader magazine last night that addresses the way that we structure our lives to be nothing short of a cast of thousands, saying, "I think we all lead more than just double lives, actually. We'd need file folders to organize all of our lives. We find places and points on which to agree - like language - but even that is faulty. When people say things to you like, 'I feel like you don't even know me!' it's usually because you really don't." So many people are like this, certainly, and Ragan digs into the minds and guts of these people for a good chunk of his lyrical content, but should a mirror be thrust in front of him, you'd see an all-American man who can build things with his bare hands, who sets an alarm clock for early morning hours to get some fishing in before the sun's come up, and who knows that inevitably, all lives have a bad ending. It's this "when we're dead and gone" portion of thought that Ragan doesn't get dragged into, but rather drags himself into time and again, finding it the most fascinating and consistently intriguing consideration for any man to bother with. It's in thinking about the final chapter of gasps that brings one to a place where bullshit and flimsiness aren't welcome, where there needs to be a decision made on what's going to be stood for and what kind of a person you want to be when all eyes are locked on you. The fire overtakes Ragan on his newest album, "Gold Country," as it's done often over the years, as it seems to have branded his throat with a darkened coating of sin or an eye for it. He sings about making pacts with the devil and making up in the morning missing a tongue. He sings about the diesel fuel that he puts in his vehicles that are meant to bring him home at the end of long hauls, long time gone. He sings about being affected by loved ones from afar and he seems to do all of this as a man that is never going to need to act as if this is a dress rehearsal for anything other than a very black hole in the ground with little leg room and no air to breathe. Ragan's goal is to make something out of this life and this soul that isn't going to be diminished into invisible fumes when he's no longer present. He is destined to prove that he was worth his blood.
Paint It Black is the most consistent band in hardcore. They have made one thing known-they are going to give you hardcore that is melodic at times, ferocious and discordant at others and Dan Yemin’s lyrics will be angry, poignant and at times, humorous and sarcastic. Most bands with this pedigree would rest on their laurels, but as Paint It Black has shown the only thing they’re going to do every time is mix it up- one minute is uncomfortable and furious, the next minute cathartic and energetic, and closing with "Bliss"-the song described by Yemin as "sounding like Fugazi having a three-way with Jawbreaker and Nirvana."
Alright, first things first. Latterman fucking ruled. No one could craft punk-along anthems like they could. However, they are gone. Now we see that a couple members have moved on
to form Iron Chic (along with members of Small Arms Dealer and the former bassist of Agent). Their first release is a five-song free demo.
Right off the bat, Iron Chic have some big shoes to fill if they want to shake listeners' minds off of Latterman's epic swan song We Are Still Alive. The demo kicks off with the one-two punch of "Cry-Baby" and "In One Ear," both of which have obvious similarities to Latterman in their uplifting, gritty sing-along nature. The vocals are where Iron Chic separate a bit from their members' past/other groups. Lubrano of Small Arms Dealer has a bit of a cleaner, less gruff delivery than may be expected from this style of music. It complements the songs nicely, though.
Of note on this demo is a bit of a `90s emo influence (i.e. Braid, Texas Is the Reason) which is seen most in "Sensitive Dependence." Though the vocals are a bit whiny at times, the less driving pace suits them well and provides a nice change-up.
All in all. this demo is definitely worth checking out. It's worth the hard drive space the ZIP file takes up even. if it's just to hold onto the memory of Latterman. From the looks of this demo, though, Iron Chic has a good future of their own. - Punknews.org

Gunmoll Reunion Show ....Shit!! Wish I Could've Been There
This Is From Mike Hale's Blog
It's 3 am. A late Sunday night in Gainesville, FL.
We were all at the D4 show earlier tonight, but made our way here for the after party at the junkyard. (aka Keith's house).
This night will live in my memories for the rest of my life.
Why? Not for any reason that anyone would find special other than the 200 people that managed to go the distance and stay up this late to see an old No Idea band play a few songs.
I play guitar and sing in the band Gunmoll, and tonight for the first time in 4 years we're going to play a quick set.
Just to give a quick history, I left Gainesville about 5 years ago. Not for any good reason other than I felt I needed to run away from the life I had made.
I had to run away from this life before I ended it. I was truly that lost.
When I did, the band I loved fell apart. It was all I had lived for over the few years prior.
It's been too long now and I don't know what to say when someone asks about it. I was broke, penniless, heartbroken, and although surrounded by friends… felt alone every minute of everyday. Fucked up depressed!
When people would ask, "why did you leave?" I used to say, "Have you ever read the lyrics to the songs I used to write?" I wanted the life I had to end. So one day I just got my shit and left.
Though I tried, I could never put the pieces back together. Fest 3 was a nightmare and every other time we tried to play or record, something got fucked up. Star crossed.
But on this night, with not one lick of practice, Jon, Derron, and I would step up to play a few songs for the crowd still lingering. I'm pretty sure everyone was just wasted enough to not give a shit how bad it really was.
But for 15 minutes on this night, we couldn't have cared less!
There has been an unsettled animosity between us over the years. In conversations we say it's all good, but there's a lot that has never been fixed. It's easy to see we're uncomfortable in each others' presence. But as with every show we ever played, as soon as the first note hits, all issues are lost without a care. We have a chemistry together that can't be denied. Derron looks up at me, eyes squinted as if the fright train he imitates is riding at his own heels. That bass is like thunder rolling, and at Jon's command it goes.
This is where I still find peace. I just haven't had it in years.
Don't get me wrong, I love my life and where I am in it!!!
I love my band In The Red and wouldn't trade it for the world. I consider myself quite lucky to have had two bands I have felt so passionately about.
I guess I have a weak heart. Some people can walk away from past relationships and never look back. I'm not that guy.
I want things to be right so I can get a good night sleep. For me, my ex wife, old friends, some of my family, and with Gunmoll.
Whether or not… we'll never know.
But I invite you all to check it out.
It's a fucking wreck! But goddamnit what a good night. I can't wait to see what happens next time.
Dangerous Intersections Vol I Traffic Street Records 2009
The first 7 inch from Traffic Street Records is also the first in a monthly series scheduled to continue at least through 2009. This first installment in the "Dangerous Intersections" 7 inch series brings you one brand new track each from four exciting new bands. First up is Rational Anthem from Sarasota, FL. Look for their splits with The Strait A's and Apocalypse Meow this Spring. Next is Iron Chic from Huntington Station, NY -the new band feat. Phil Douglas and Brian Crozier of Latterman, Gord Lafler of Jonesin, Jason Lubrano of Explosivo, and John Mee of Agent. Kicking off the B-Side are Amen and the Hell Yeahs -who serve as even further evidence that no city plays pop punk like Minneapolis. And finally, closing things out are Unwelcome Guests of Buffalo, NY -who you probably know from their split with This is My Fist's Annie Saunders or their recent contribution to Art of the Underground's Single Series. Great bands, great songs, enough said.
1) Rational Anthem - Of Kids Left in Cars With Windows Up 2) Iron Chic - I Never Get Winded 3) Amen and the Hell Yeahs - Brothers and Sisters in Bourbon 4) Unwelcome Guests - Floating Away

After the break-up of Snuff, Duncan switched from drums to guitar, hooked up with a fellow named Jools who played bass, and a guy by the name of Pat who played drums. The result was Guns ‘N’ Wankers. And they were great.
First off were three E.P.s ‘Punk’ ‘Hardcore’ and ‘Metal’ and then they got compiled onto one cd with one track removed for good luck.
There was one more release called ‘Silly’ (a 7”) which came free with the fanzine ‘Fear and Loathing’

"To date, this is the most comprehensive FU singles collection in existence, because the Epics in Minutes CD on Deranged leaves out a lot of Bsides, and because other than that, there are no other FU singles comps, unless you count that cassette tape that was released in Montreal a few years ago." Tracks 2,5,8,13-17 havent been released on cd before.
In 1991, Snuff went their separate ways. The breakup spawned Guns n Wankers and Your Mum. This cd is a combination of the one sided lp, single, a live track & a disco remix !
